Social goals
Students relationships w others.
Ex: The NLU students relationship with her professor was very positive. Her professor always gave her positive feedback which encouraged her to keep doing will in that class.
Mastery Goals
Being able to master a certain skill.
Ex. A student learning a new concept in math and is able to show that he understands the problems by including the specific formulas. That student has mastered that lesson.
Performance Goals
Wanting to show high ability
Ex. A student studying everyday to get an A on her exam. This is showing his/ her abilities of being able to strive for that A.
Interests
Personal Interests
Personal interests that can affect or help a student academically
Ex. A student who enjoys math class will make him or her more motivated and focused in that class
Situational Interest
A persons enjoyment that is stimulated by a certain text.
Ex. A teacher making a lesson that is relatable to a student can bring a sense of enjoyment in that specific material.
Behavior
Your drive or energy
Negative: When a student decides to listen to music while a lesson is being taught.
Positive: When a student is asking question during a lesson. Shows that the student is engaged in the lesson.
Intrinsic motivation
own willingness to achieve something without no reward.
Example: The NLU student was motivated to continue her studies and achieve more than she thought she could.
Extrinsic motivation
wanting to achieve a goal because of an outside reward.
Example: The NLUs students motivation was first driven by her grades which is an outside reward.
