BISMARK
Bismark realised that Germany was not colonised. So under Wilhelm the 1st supervision, he created fake wars and conflicts with other countries to bring Germany together to hate a common enemy.
-
His actions led to tangled alliances, also referred to as Bismark's Domino effect, meaning that if one thing went wrong a whole war would break out

IMPERALISM

NATIONALISM
NAVAL ARMS RACE
GERMANY: put a fleet of ships in Britain's waters because Wilhelm the second had no where else to put them.
BRITAIN freaked out because they thought Germany was trying to start a war, so they built the Dreadnought-a HUGE battle ship
GERMANY wanted to one up Britain because they thought they were better. so they build The Nassau-and even bugger boat.
HOW THE FAILURE AFFECTED THE WAR: It lead to the trench warfare (war of attrition, winner is the side who has the most stuff) because they ran out of supplies. Everyone in the country has to help in war effort to make supplies.
Wilhelm the 2nd was very, very proud of Germany. a little too proud.
EFFECTS: it increased military control, and created another layer of tension between the two opposing alliances
