1949
The Edsac was the first stored program electronic computer. The computer performed its first calculation on May 6, 1949. It also ran one of the first video games, called "Baby" which electronically simulated the popular game "Naughts and Crosses"

May 24, 1972 The Magnavox Odyssey was the first ever game console released to the public. It simply used two paddles as controllers and provoked the First Generation of Video games

September 11, 1977. Atari releases the Atari 2600, this being is the first game console to utilize ROM cartridges for storing game code, instead of having games built into the gaming system.

July 15, 1983. The NES is released. The basics of the NES controller became an industry standard that still resonates today.
