Recognize students who have a chance of possessing difficulty while reading. Also decided whether or not a student could benefit from extra support.
Administered to students at the beginning of the school year or term (Elementary School)
Assesses the students to find out if they are making beneficial progress
Does the instruction need to be changed?
Measures if the students are learning the material
Students at a proficient level: Administered triennially
Students below average: Administered once every two weeks
Students severely below expected level: Administered either weekly or every other week
Purpose is to determine the exact area of struggle for a student
Assessment will give information about both the student's skills and needs
Administered after other assessments have already been given and the student is not making any advancements
Purpose is to assess the overall success of a student while participating in a reading program.
Administered to students at the end of the year or term.
Purpose is to determine where the instruction needs to begin in order to benefit the student.
