Compact Bone
Characteristics
Dense bone, matrix is solidly filled with organic ground substance and inorganic salts,with lacunae that contain osteocytes.

Bone Marrow
Red bone Marrow
Where most red blood cells, platelets, and white blood cells are formed.
Yellow Bone Marrow
produces fat, cartilage, and bone.
Spongy bone
Characteristics
Made of spongy, bone tissue filled with red bone marrow. Important for producing blood cells. Found in ends of long bones & in the pelvis, ribs, vertebrae, and skull.

Perimysium
- Surrounds groups of muscle fibers called fascicles.
Epimysium
- Outermost layer. Surrounds the entire muscle.
Endomysium
- Deepest layer. Separates individual muscle fibers.
