-
ASSOCIATED BEHAVIORS
Exaggerated behaviors (cupping hands around ear, shouting, etc.)
-

-
INDICATORS OF NOHL
-
-
-
-
Speech audiometry = say semantically related words rather than phonetically related words when guessing
-
-
CAREFUL = latent auditory processing (not processing sound how you should be = can cause variability in response) and auditory neuropathy can both present these indicators!
BEHAVIORAL TEST BATTERY
Stenger Test
-
-
BUT greater than 20 dB, presented at the same time in different ears with different loudness levels = will only hear the loudest tone being presented (will not hear the softer tone)
-
Negative = low level in better ear, but a little above the threshold and then below the threshold in the worse ear = say yes they heard it
Positive = do not respond when heard in the worse ear = but they would have heard it one of their ears due to the phenomenon!

Bekesy Audiometry
-
We hear pulsed tones better, we perceived continuous tones as louder
-
-
LOT & DELOT
-
DELOT
Same long gap between tones, but descending presentation = perceptually tone seems louder this way
-
PHYSIOLOGIC TEST BATTERY
-
ARTs
This is helpful except for moderate losses, can't really use ARTs to distinguish these (usually around 95)
-
OAEs
-
-
Can be absent due to MEP = only useful to determine outer hair cell function if you can determine that there is normal ME function
