For more than 10 years, Ricardo Schaefer worked for the Brazilian Government helping to create several governmental agencies and formulate economic development policies: industrial, technological and foreign trade policies, exports and investments promotion and official exports financing. From 2013-15 he was Deputy-Minister of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade – MDIC, and President of the Export Financing and Guarantee Committee of the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber (COFIG-CAMEX). He also presided the Deliberative Council of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency – Apex-Brasil; Foreign Trade Executive Committee of the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber – GECEX/CAMEX; Administrative Council of the Superintendency of Manaus Free Trade Zone – SUFRAMA; Deliberative Council of the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development – ABDI and National Council of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality – CONMETRO. Schaefer has an extensive corporate governance background in banking, logistics, electronic and semiconductor sectors. In the last decade, he was member of the board of the Brazilian National Development Bank Participations – BNDESPAR (2007-15), America Latina Logística – ALL (2011-15) and CEITEC – Semiconductors (2011-15). He is an Associated and Certificated Member of the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance – IBGC. He was Director of Apex-Brasil (2007-10), the Brazilian Executive-Commissioner to Expo Shanghai 2010 and Chairman of the Inter-ministerial Commission in charge of the Brazilian presentation at Expo Milano 2015. He was Chief of Staff of the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development – ABDI (2005-07), Director of International Affairs of the Government of Rio Grande do Sul state (1999-02) and Director of Operations at the RBS Group (1993-97). In 2014, he was nominated by the government of Singapore as the 45th Member of the Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship.
