Special Education Process
Observe the child
Talk with the Vice principle about observations
Talk with parents about observations
Determine if child is eligible for special education status
Evaluate the child to determine the need of the child
Child is referred for evaluation for special education
The team develop IEP for the child
The IEP is implemented
Follow Up
The administration should follow up with the teacher and the parents to see if the IEP is working for the child
The team will then implement the IEP in the classroom
The school's administration and the parents of the child will develop the IEP for the child
The teacher or counselor will then refer the child for special education
The child will then be evaluated using a variety of assessment tools
In order to receive special education status the child must have a disability that impacts their learning in a negative way
