What I have learned so far
global warming
effects of global warming
coral reefs die
500 m people could lose food job
4000 species of fish could lose habitat
more extreme weather(drought)
land animals moving 17 km towards poles, 11 m higher in altitude
ice melting
sea level rises and causes flooding
crops are destroyed
farmers will need to adapt to changing climates
reduces habitats
polar bears at risk
People get unhealthy by the smog. It can cause heart disease, lung cancer and asthma.
oceans warmer
fish migrate towards Poles.
People who rely on fish for food / money is in trouble
solutions to global warming
Reduce water waste
Saving water reduces carbon pollution because it takes a lot of energy to pump, heat and treat the water
Buy LED light bulbs
They are also cheaper in long run.
LED light bulbs use up to 80 percent less energy than incandescent light bulb.
Don't waste food
If we waste less food, we're likely cutting down on energy consumption.
Weatherize
Heating and cooling are among the biggest uses of energy
Make the space more efficient by sealing drafts and ensuring it's adequately insulated.
Renewable energy
Decrease dependence on coal and other fossil fuels
We can reduce the air pollution
Create new jobs and industries
Diversify our power supply
Causes of global warming
Burning fossil fuels
When we burn fossil fuels, we release carbon dioxide pollution into the atmosphere.
Deforestation
Plants play an important role in regulating the climate
Humans clear vast areas of vegetation around the world for farming and urban development or to sell tree products.
When vegetation is removed, the stored carbon is released back into the atmosphere at CO2, contributing to global warming.
Farming
Animals like sheep and cattle produce methane, a greenhouse gas.
Some farmers use nitrous oxide , which is another greenhouse gas.
Using different stock feeds can help to reduce farming's contribution to climate change.
Global interactions - Nexus thinking
Nexus thinking is a new way of thinking that recognises the crucial interdependence of water, energy and food - a relationship that forms the core of the environment nexus project.
There are a lot of problems in worldwide. Population, food, cities, waste, tourism and energy.
Making some crucial decisions about these problems is nexus thinking.
Global interaction is the growing interdependence of countries worldwide through the increasing volume and variety of cross - border transactions in goods and services and of international capital flows, and through the more rapid and widespread diffusion of technology.
There are some countries using each other for self-improvement.
Some countries increase the trading abroad every year.
Some countries are sharing the spread of technology
