What I know at the start of the term
The current prime minister is Scott Morrison.
Recently, Malcom Turnbull resigned as Prime Minister for Australia.
Julia Gillard was the first women as an Australian Prime Minister.
The government house of Australia is situated in Canberra.
There are different 'parties' in the government and they each have a different promise they will uphold in order to become prime minister.
Voting is compulsory for people over 18
We have 3 'parties', Liberal, Labor and Green
Different states have different rules and regulations.
What I know in Week 4
There are three levels of government; Federal, State and Local.
The Australian Federal Government has 150 seats for 150 electorates each with their representatives.
The Federal Government is in charge of taking care of the county's economy and jobs like taxing.
The State government takes care of measures regarding the appointed state.
The state Government is responsible for health facilities, education and transport.
The Local Government ensures that their local area is up to date with all laws suitable for them.
They make sure all roads are safe for citizens to utilize, pet control and rubbish collection.
Australia was federated in 1901.
Before Australia was federated, each state were separate colonies with seperate rules.
The Australian Government system came from the Westminster System
This system originated in London England
The 'Westminster' System got its name from the Westminster Abbey in which the Parliament of England is located.
The leader of the State Government is called the Premier.
The leader of the Federal Government is called the Prime Minister.
The leader of the Local government is called the Mayor.

The House of Representatives is green symbolizing eucalyptus trees
The Senate is red.
The old Parliament House is not in use currently because of its small size
The Governor General is responsible for most ceremonial jobs and giving bills the royal seal,
All of Australia's laws are in the Australian Constitution.
Most of the city of Canberra was designed though a competition

You can be fined and sometimes put in court for jail if you do not properly complete you electing ballot.
A referendum is where a group of people vote on a particular subject.
The Prime Minister appoints the Governor General
The Governor General has the ability to dismiss the Prime Minister if their job is done insufficiently.

The Governor General works on most weekends.
If someone is abroad and cannot vote they go to their embassy in an other country to vote.

A pre-poll vote is when the voter cannot vote at the given time and most vote earlier.
There are 76 members of the senate
There are 12 members in the Senate for each state and 2 for each territory.
200 people can fit at the governer general's house.
The Governor General has 2 houses in Australia
One in Sydney, One iin Canberra.
