End of the Transatlantic Trade of Enslaved People (1808) A law banned the transatlantic trade of enslaved people of Africa to the U.S.
1917 Immigration Act (February 5, 1917) The U.S was feeling an anti-Asia vibe and decided to banded immigration from India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and immigrants who were literate ages 16 and up. This can also go under racism because the intent of this was to target Southern and Eastern Europe. This fits in with Deportation and Racism because people were getting deported and they were getting deported due to there race.
Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 (June 27,1952) Asian countries that were banned from immigrating to the U.S could now immigrate.
Immigration Act of 1924 (May 24,1924) This limited immigration of Eastern and Southern Europeans greatly.
The Bracero Program (August 4, 1942) Since the U.S had so many people in the war they needed people to work so they decided to make a deal with Mexico and have workers from Mexico come and work on agricultural things while they were on a temporary migration pass.
Operation Wetback (May 1954) Americans felt that there economy and culture was being threatened by the Mexicans. Mexicans were treated inhumanly and some were deported and forced to start new lives.
Magnuson Act (December 17, 1943) Since China and the U.S were allies in WW2 Chinese immigration became legal and Chinese immigrants already in the U.S became naturalized citizens.
Migration and Refugee Assistance Act of 1962 (June 1962) This act assisted refugees and people who faced discrimination migrate to the US.
1965 Immigration and Nationality Act (October 3,1965) Congress decided to instead of limiting the amount of immigrants from each country, to let immigrants in based of other factors. This increased immigration quickly and immensely.
1975 Indochina Migration and Refugee Assistance Act (May 23,1975) At the end of the Vietnamese War many people immigrated all over. Some cam to the US, some were murdered and some got stuck in concentration camps.
Refugee Act of 1980(March 17, 1980) The US needed a more formal way of getting immigrants. This caused citizens to fear for national security and diversity of cultures. This can also be put in racism because many people reacted violently toward certain races.
Immigration Reform and Control Act (November 16,1986) Undocumented immigration was concerning and this act slowed down immigration. This can also he put in racism because many of the people wanted to stop certain races from migrating to the US by proposing racist things.
Immigration Act of 1990(November 29,1990) Made the goal to reunite families, new employment based immigration, and diversity visas.
Illegal immigration reform and immigrant responsibility act (September 30, 1996) Citizens claimed that undocumented people were taking jobs from people with a citizenship. This caused the government to stop letting undocumented people from entering the country.

Racism or discimination
Naturalization Act of 1790 (March 26, 1790) This act only granted citizenship who had been living in the United States of America for two years.
Japanese
Executive Order 9066 and Japanese American Incarceration (February 19, 1942) This went into affect after the Pearl Harbor Bombing. This sent many Japanese American into concentration camps.
Chinese
Chinese Exclusion Act (May 6, 1882) This act banned Chinese immigration for 10 years. People in the country as of November, 1880 could stay in the country.
Geary Act (May 5, 1892) Extended the Chinese Exclusion Act and made Chinese immigrants get certificates to show they were documented, and could be imprisoned if the were undocumented
Jewish
Displaced Persons Act of 1948(June 25, 1948) After WW2 there was a refugee crisis and the US passed this act which allowed 200000 Europeans to pass to the US. Most of these people were Jews who were harassed by Hitler but they were also harassed in the U.S too.
Refugee Relief Act of 1953 (August 7, 1953) This allowed more than 200000 refugees from Europe. This replaced the Displaced Persons Act of 1948.
Muslims
USA Patriot Act (November 26, 2001) Following the Al-Queda Attack many people feared Muslims and this caused the government to stop letting some Muslims in and kept better watch of Muslim students.
Defense
Enhanced Border Security and Visa Reform Act (May 14, 2002) Congress increased Border Security and set up systems for immigration.
Homeland Security Act (November 25, 2002) The department of Homeland Security creates 3 agencies.
Secure Fence Act (October 28, 24) Weaponization of Mexico border fence.
Colonization (1492-1763)
When the Europeans arrived in the Americas they seized land from native people, and forced enslaved Africans to migrate and work on the land.
Indian Removal Act (May 28,1830) This act forced native groups to move west of the Mississippi River to open up land white settlers and new immigrants in the country.
Deportation
Alien and Sedation Laws (1798) There were four laws that where passed that gave immigrants limited rights. These laws included voting rights, power to deport immigrants who came from countries that were in conflict with the U.S..
