FACTS
Consists of nerve and ganglia outside the brain and spinal cord
Unlike CNS, PNS is not protected by skull, spine or blood brain barrier.
PNS is divided into
somatic nervous nervous system
sensory neuron
motor neuron
autonomic nervous system
sympathetic nervous system
parasympathetic nervous system
FUNCTION
Connects CNS to the organs
alllow brains and spinal cord to receive and send information.
sensory neuron
take sensory information and send to brain and spinal cord.
sympathethic
fight or flight state
motor neuron
carry information from brain and spinal cord to muscle fibres throughout the body. (physical action)
parasympathetic
rest and digest state.
