LESSON 2 Ang mga batayan sa Matandang Tipan na Si Cristo Raw ay Dios na Tunay (The basis in the Old Testament that others use to say that Christ is the True God)
INTRODUCTION: It is the understanding of some that Christ is God, however Christ changed into man during the Christian Era, and there are proofs in the Old Testament that he is God.
MICAH 5:2
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,
Yet out of you shall come forth to Me
The One to be Ruler in Israel,
Whose goings forth are from of old,
From everlasting.”
JOSHUA 5:13-15
And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, “Are You for us or for our adversaries?”
14 So He said, “No, but as Commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.”
And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, “What does my Lord say to His servant?”
15 Then the Commander of the Lord’s army said to Joshua, “Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy.” And Joshua did so.
EXODUS 6:2-3
And God spoke unto Moses and said unto him, “I am the Lord.
3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob by the name of God Almighty, but by My name Jehovah was I not known to them.
ARGUMENT Christ is the "Jehovah" referred to in this verse according to the book of the adventists "What people need to know, a Biblical Exposition of 27 Major Teachings" were it states "The sacred Old Testament name of God, Jehova, or Yahweh, is applied to Jesus"
Why the Argument is wrong
1. No where in the verse does it say that Christ is Jehova
2. Jehova is the name of the Most High
Psalms 83:18
that men may know that Thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the Most High over all the earth.
3. Christ cannot be the Most High for he is the "Son of the Most High"
Luke 1:31-32
And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb and bring forth a Son, and shalt call His name Jesus.
32 He shall be great and shall be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of His father David,
4. It is wrong to think that Christ is Most High because he is under God
I Cor 15:27-28
for “He hath put all things under His feet.” But when He saith “all things” are put under Him, it is manifest that He is excepted, who did put all things under Him.
28 And when all things shall be subdued unto Him, then shall the Son Himself also be subject unto Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.
5. The father is much greater than Christ according to Christ himself
John 14:28
28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, ‘I go away and come again unto you.’ If ye loved Me, ye would rejoice because I said, ‘I go unto the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I.
6. If Jehova is Lord and Christ is Lord it doesn't mean that they are the same. If this was true then There would be Two Gods or Two Jehovahs
Psalm 110:1
The Lord(Jehova) said unto my Lord(messiah), “Sit Thou at My right hand, until I make Thine enemies Thy footstool.”
7. Christ is the Servant of Jehovah according to the apostles
Acts 4:29-30 NWT
And now, Jehovah, look upon their threatenings, and grant to Thy servants with all freedom to speak Thy word,
30 in the stretching forth of Thy hand, for healing, and signs, and wonders, to come to pass through the name of Thy holy child Jesus.'
8.Jehova is the Father According to the prophet Isaiah
Isaiah 64:8 YLT
8 And now, O Jehovah, thou [art] our Father, We [are] the clay, and Thou our Framer, And the work of Thy hand -- all of us.
ARGUMENT
Christ is the Commander of the Army that Joshua saw. According to them this proves Christ has preexistance
Why this argument is wrong
1. The verse never states that Christ is the Commander of the Army of God.
2. The angels and Michael are the army of God Psalms 103:20-21 and Michael is the Commander of this army
Daniel 10:21,13
21 But I will tell you what is noted in the Scripture of Truth. (No one upholds me against these, except Michael your prince.
3. There is nothing in the bible that says that Christ is the Ark Angel Michael
4. Christ is Above the angels including Michael
Ephesians 1:22
And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,
5. Who is Michael?
a. Captain of Gods army fighting against the Dragon
Revelation 12:7
Jude 1:9
ARGUMENT
The teachers of the Christ is God Doctrine use this verse to prove that Christ had a pre existence because it states the ruler of Israel is Christ and he is from old to Everlasting
Why This Argument is Wrong
1. We are not against the statement that this verse is in reference to Christ. However it doesn't prove his pre existence, nor that Christ is God
2. The verse states "From you(Bethlehem) come forth" refers to birthplace. "Come forth to me(God)" refers to the Election from God. And the final portion of the verse "who's goings are from old to everlasting" refers to the Fact that Christ is a plan coming from God. (John 8:42)
3. The explanation of some scholars in regards to Micah 5:2 states; "The Shepherd king of Israel will be born in Bethlehem, like David. And could mean from the times of David and not a pre existence" Oxford Annotated Bible, Revised Standard Version
ISAIAH 48:16
“Come near to Me, hear this:
I have not spoken in secret from the beginning;
From the time that it was, I was there.
And now the Lord God and His Spirit
[a]Have sent Me.”

ARGUMENT Preachers of the Christ has pre existence use this verse because it states "from the beginning I was there, and now the lord has sent me". According to them, this proves Christ's Pre Existence.
Why This Argument is Wrong
1. The verse doesn't expressly state that Christ said He was there since the Beginning .
2. It is wrong to use this verse because it is not talking about pre existence of the one sent and the one sent is not Christ but Isaiah
easy to read version
Come here and listen to me!
I was there when Babylon began as a nation.
And from the beginning, I spoke clearly
so that people could know what I said.”
(Isaiah says) Now, the Lord God sends me and his Spirit to tell you these things.
The Living Bible translation refers to this messenger as Ciro and not Christ.
