Game Mechanic Idea - Reflect Hockey
Gameplay
Launch a projectile
Projectile is fired from a launcher
Launcher can be aimed
Aiming is limited to half-circle arc
Launcher is in a fixed location
Projectile ricochets of walls and objects
With each ricochet, the project loses velocity
Once projectile loses all velocity, it stops moving
If player fails to hit a score target with a projectile, they lose a life
If player loses all lives, the game is over
If game over, player restarts from first level
Lives are fully restored on game over
Player starts with three lives
Every thousand point earned grants the player one life
Player cannot have more than three lives
Goal is to make projectile hit a score target
Score targets are designated areas on the play field
There are three on each level
Upon hitting a score target, player earns points
Points are added to player's total score
Depending on the target hit, different amount of points are earned
Higher value targets are more difficult to hit
Level ends upon hitting a target

Top-down perspective
3D graphics could be used with 2D gameplay
After being launched, camera follows projectile until it stops or hits a score target
While aiming, player views whole level
Whole level is visible at once. Cannot move camera
Game is organized into levels
Each level has a different terrain
Levels are surrounded by walls
Walls are impenetrable
Obstacles are spread across the level
The obstacles prevent directly shooting projectile into targets
Player must bounce projectile off obstacles and walls to hit the targets
Five levels in total
Players advance to next level by hitting a target in the current one

Gameplay is 2D, using only X and Y axis
Game elements are represented using textured polygonal 3D models
