Community Wildfire and Forest Resiliency Planner
Community Wildfire Preparedness
Community Organizing
Work with agency partners (King County/DNR/Fire Districts) to identify, educate, and outreach to strategic communities in service district about wildfire preparedness
identify and support community leaders / champions of wildfire preparedness that can organize neighbors into taking action
Participate in community outreach and education events and activities with agency partners
Wildfire Risk Assessments
Provide individual landowners/properties in communities of interest with wildfire risk assessment and mgmt recommendations
Provide organized communities with community wildfire risk assessment and mgmt recommendations
Consult as needed with agency partners on assessments and recommendations
Fire Adapted Community Planning
Firewise Community Action Plans
Work with organized communities in service district that have an interest in becoming a Firewise USA community to write a firewise community action plan
Work with current or former firewise communities in service district to update their firewise community action plans as needed
Assist communities with completing necessary paperwork to apply for Firewise Community Certification
Community Wildfire Preparedness Plans
Work with organized communities in service district, local jurisdiction, and partner agencies to develop new CWPPs for strategic communities that want and would benefit from this type of plan
Work with organized communities in service district, local jurisdiction, and partner agencies to update existing CWPPs for strategic communities that need and would benefit from a CWPP update
Fuels Reduction Project Planning and Implementation
Scope Fuels Reduction Projects
Other Fuels Reduction Projects: project prescriptions, project map, identification of any necessary permitting, and project timeline
Chipper Days: provide community/wildfire preparedness leaders with overview of Chipper Day project planning steps and provide support as they implement steps
Assist with identifying qualified contractors, getting project bids, selecting contractor, and completing necessary cost-share applications/paperwork
Identification and confirmation of project area
Provide technical assistance to communities and contractors during implementation of projects and beyond to ensure success of projects
Identification of priority wildfire fuels concerns in community
Community Forest Resiliency
Forest Stewardship Project Planning and Implementation
Identification and confirmation of project area and screening of all landowners associated with area to be included in project
Identification of priority resource concerns in community covered by community FSP and/or individual landowner FSPs in community
Scoping of Forest Stewardship Project: Project Prescriptions, Project Map, and Project Timeline
Assisting with identifying qualified contractors, getting project bids, and completing necessary cost-share applications
Provide Technical Assistance to communities and contractors during implementation of projects and beyond to ensure success
Commuinty Forest Stewardship Planning
Identify Communities' level of interest in contributing to plan writing and most useful form of information included in plan
Identify how community will participate in development of Forest Stewardship Plan
Identify Communities' Forest Stewardship Goals and Objectives
Collect field and community data on current and historical conditions of area covered by FSP
Identify areas that will be covered by Forest Stewardship Plan
Write Forest Stewardship Plan and involve community as previously identified
Community Organizing
Identify Community Leaders and Decision Making Bodies/Processes for Community if any exist
Work with community leaders and processes to make necessary decisions that will allow effective forest stewardship planning
Provide Baseline Education about Forest Stewardship and Local Forest Ecology
Do strategic targeted outreach to communities about service
Identify and support Community Champions for Forest Stewardship
