Less than 2% of registered vehicles are motorcycles, however they make up 11% of all traffic related fatalities
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2003, if all of the 3661 motorcyclists involved in fatal accidents had worn helmets, 640 of them would still be alive.
As of 2015, only 20 states have universal coverage laws
Some states over the past decade have repealed their universal coverage laws, increasing the amount of motorcyclist deaths
