Failure to complete assignments

Disruptive behavior in class
Failure to meet academic expectations
Meet with counselor to determine if this is a new or ongoing issue.
Meet with previous English teacher to discuss performance in last year's class
Meet with student to discuss behavioral issues or lack of performance.
Make a plan with the student for individualized help. Set goals for student and schedule a future check-in meeting.
Goal not met: discuss reasons why s/he may be continuing to struggle with student.
Meet with counselor to discuss observations. Ask learning specialist to make suggestions for further interventions or observe student in classroom setting.
Contact parents or guardians to update them on the situation and ask for input and support in home setting.
Initiate differentiated instruction or behavior modification strategies suggested by counselor or learning
specialist.
