The Incubation Stage

Nobles who made up 3% of the population, paid no taxes and taxed peasants.
Bourgeoisie which consisted of peasants and workers, paid up to ½ of income in taxes. Spent their lives in misery.
General: Economically Weak, Politically Weak, Class Conflict.
Politically Weak
Louis XVI was a weak leader, he preferred personal interests and couldn't make decisions on his own. He was also influenced by his wife, Marie - Antoinette.
Economically Weak
There was an economic crisis in France due to: War, Louis XVI's lifestyle, Crop failures, and the nobles not being taxed.
At the start of the French Revolution, inequality between the French people. Before the Revolution started, the Upper Clergy, and the Nobles didn’t have to pay taxes, while the Bourgeoisie, also known as the Middle Class had to pay ½ of their income in taxes. This changed after the Revolution ended. The Upper Clergy and the Nobles finally had to pay taxes.
This Revolution most probably impacted the way taxes worked in the future. For example, if the French Revolution didn’t happen, only lower class people would have to pay their taxes.

Storming of the Bastille takes place on the 14th of July 1789, in response to the King mobilizing Swiss troops. (The 14th of July is the French National day.

Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen is put into place in August 1789. It was influenced by America.
The Estates General is called, the Third estate demands a reform, but they are resisted by others.
The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen is one of the most important events to happen in France’s history. Thanks to this declaration, it promoted civil rights and helped promote equality among the French citizens.
In an attempt to solve, or to avoid the issues which caused the Revolution, The Estates General was called, the Third Estate demanded a reform, but they were resisted by others. A National Assembly was also declared on the 20th of June 1789.

September Massacres occur. (They were a wave of killings in Paris and other cities from 2–7 September 1792).

This part of the French Revolution shaped the way France is today. If it weren’t for this part of the revolution, France would most likely remained a kingdom.
