Canada 2030: Hindsight Predictions
Socio-cultural Changes
Politcal Changes
Technology
Virtual Reality’ may play a big role in the development of technology. It is predicted that schools will replace textbooks with ‘Virtual Reality’, instead of sitting in a classroom, students may get the visual experience and understanding of concepts. For example, students in history class can get a look at how aboriginal people lived and hunted and went by their day.
Robots can be created by scientists to provide companionship for humans and to help around the house.
Spaceships will be designed to send people to mars
Men Dominating the Workforce
The future is female, women will be heard and will soon dominate the work industry just as much as men . Girls born in Canada/North America and are studying here also have a better chance in getting a job without anyone telling them they can not.
Immigration
There will be millions of jobs in Canada and the immigration is decreasing since the baby boomers who have dominated Canadian life for 4 decades are now fading.
Relationship with the USA
Canada will soon have to make the country of it's own since the USA boarder is thickening and Canada is sitting on the sidelines. Canada needs to differentiate itself by natural resource funding, Canada can diversify markets to reduce both its vulnerability to US policies and dependence on US investors, producers, and consumers.
Quebec Seperation
Quebec will have another vote deciding on whether they can stay in Canada or they will be ruled out
Economic Changes
NAFTA
NAFTA may take part in Trans-Pacific Partnership so any country can join by accepting the agreement's provision. The TPP can provide a negotiation between Canada, USA, and Mexico to diversify and deepen trade with economies in the Asia-Pacific region.
Natural resources
extend or improve natural resource production, new infrastructure and new extraction projects. Processing facilities and large expansion projects
Environmental Changes
Auto Industry
Hybrid cars/ cars that run on electricity will soon take over take over the decade and the use of fossil fuels will be reduced due to environmental harm
Water Pollution
natural resource categories such as thermal power generation, agriculture, oil, gas, and mining are estimated 86% of total water use. By the next decade there will be enough water for everyone but not enough to waste
Global Warming
Scientists have confidence that global temperatures will rise due to greenhouse gases produced by human activity
Great Pacific Garbage Patch
Garbage will continue to increase but more advanced and larger nets will be invented . Mega nets have been helping out but as the population increases so will the garbage and the amount of plastic water bottles that are purchase seem very convenient but we do not realize the harm we put to the environment
