Plasma membrane
Barrier, is a site of transport across the membrane, and is selectively permeable. And has two main components lipid bi layer & protein.
The proteins in the plasma membrane act as receptors to transmit information from outside to inside the cell.
-
Passive transport which dose not require cellular energy. And requires movement down the concentration gradiant.
Facilitated diffusion
Requires a protein to pass through the membrane examples are glucose, charged particles, and non-soluble lipids.
-
Simple diffusion
Down a cenentration gradiant which is from a concentrated region to a less concentrated one. Ex: O2, CO2, and fat-souble molecules
Active transport that dose require cellular energy and requires movement up the concentration gradient.
-
-
Pinocytosis
A vesicle is formed in the plasma membrane. Pinocytosis is considered cell drinking and is non-selective.
-
-
Intermediate filaments
Permanent, has protein fibers, stable, and is connected to desmosomes.
Micro filaments
Breaks down and builds up, made of actin protein, produces movement, helps cells change the shape of their plasma membrane.
