Energy demand
there is an increased demand for electricity in the UK although the actual energy consumption rate has gone down. Due to the decline of heavy industry and improved energy consumption
Energy mix
There is less coal being used and more renewable resources are now being used. By 2020 the UK aims to meet 15% of its energy resources from renewable methods.
Why is our energy mix changing?
Our energy mix is changing because the UK is no longer self-sufficient, about 75% of the natural gs and oil reserves have been exhausted. so therefore we need to import majority of our energy resources.

Fracking
what is this and why is it a concern? Fracking is when a liquid is pumped into the ground at a high pressure to release gas and oil from the sedimentary rocks. it is a concern because it can cause earthquakes, pollute natural underground water sources and it costs a lot.
WATER
Water Transfer
In 2006 the government made a plan to establish a water grid and transfer water from areas of water surplus to areas of water deficit.
