PLT 19 Sepember 2018

FFL- Researcher & Bio Diversity Campaigner (2020),
Forests - Political Advisor & Researcher, SA - Legal Officer
Actions: Security Advisor
Liason Officers in Kenya and Mauritania - nothing yet has been approved
Activities spent budget nothing has been added
Wil take a lot of cuts for us to stay in budget
Questons: FR for West Africa an Inernational. Suggestion by Ibrahima that we should have officer...No match with the global agenda. How will they allow us to be relevant in our own countries?
When we have projects around Congo basin, are there fundraisers who can raise funds. Is there a way that we can get some of these funds back from this fundraising opportunity?
A: Its called a special appeal. FR can look into it and see if there is a policy linked to this type of FR so that we could get some of those funds raised.
A:. International fundraiser - FR comment is that the only viable channel in West Africa is ....(Thembi). Who would fundraise for the person in WA. It would be a cost question. It not currently a priority because there is currently a person being funded fo this position in a different hub.
ODP money does fund global and local projects.
We need to find space for repsonsive projects.
Questions
:
Good idea to have security officers. Similar as with Actions, we should ensure that the capacity is in place so that ppl are correctly equipped for their positions. The duty of Care is important.
Does budget spread involved Campaign leads.
If funding is an issue, couldn't we have a budget then when there's a need, it can be given to where and when needed.
10Million negative balance = look at our scope of work and lessons learnt - the pressure of ensuring that we need to grow, but instead of rapid growth, focus on what we are succeeding in more.
Where should we cut back?

Congo Basin, not working on these comodities, Cameroon, not our priority to connect here and on the ground there is no big camp to connect here. Not in agreement entirely, main project on ground is on rubber
All feedback will be consolidated by Lindlyn and Toko into the document
Global Sanctuary - Oceans. Lots of questions on the position of African countries. Importnt for lobbying in the next 2 years as this will be pushed more by the ngo's working closely with Oceans
