The Ecosystem
Alien/Invasive Species
-
A specific species is in a specific habitat for a reason, to increase in population and decrease by predators. When a species is moved to a different location it can hurt not only other animals but itself to
When a new species is introduced into a new habitat there is a chance of it not having no natural predator and it could take over the habitat.
Overexploitation
Killing too many animals can lead to decrease of their population. Too much decrease will turn into extinction.
Disease can cause animal species to go extinct. If we hunt animals then leave very little left, disease can wipe out the rest.
Animals are being killed just for their resource. We are killing sharks in a very cruel way just for their fins. Catching and cutting off their fins and throwing them back into the water.
Air/Water Pollution
Air pollution is when we burn fossil fuels and release different gasses and chemicals into the atmosphere.
-
-
Biodiversity Loss
There are places with umbrella species that the ecosystem depends on. Without the umbrella species some habitats could be lost.
-
We are using too many resources and too fast. We are using more than we can replenish so soon we will run out.
Global Climate Change
The oceans are taking CO2 out of the air and absorbing it making the oceans more acidic. The oceans temperature has increased 0.3 degrees Fahrenheit.
The warmer temperature is casing glaciers to melt increasing the sea level creating floods. Destroying polar bear habitats and ours along with it.
CO2 and other gasses released into the air, trap the sunlight inside the atmosphere and increases heat.
Overpopulation
-
The amount of people on earth is increasing drastically. Which is leading to many different problems.
Overpopulation means we need more space. More space means less trees. We remove trees to make space for infrastructure. Soon we are going to remove all our trees and then remove the very thing we need to survive will fall along with the trees. Oxygen.
-
Pollution
When an insect eats poisoned food its predator eats it consuming the poison with the insect. Needing more than one to survive they continue eating and this increases the poison in the animal. When an even larger animal eats that animal it gets poisoned an so on.
