control the electric current as it passes through them. They’re colour coded to determine their value.

Amplifies charge.

These are components which can harbour electrical charge.

Can either allow current or block depending if they are closed or open.

Stores charge and stops and change in current.

Allows current to pass in one direction only, blocking the other.

When they got aluminosilicate (the result of glass) then they put it into molten salt bath where chemical occurs

Molten salt

Potassium ions

Sodium ions

Potassium ions are infused into the glass

At the same when potassium ions are infused into the glass, sodium ions exit the glass.

Compressive stress- when materials are compressed to make them smaller in volume

Home button

Home buttons are made out of sapphire

It is carry a fingerprint sensor embedded into a slightly convex (curved) home button

Headquartered

Apple is located in Cupertino, California, United States download-1

These materials are come from around the world but mostly China specifically China's Inner Mongolia. download

The components come from places all over the world, but the actual iPhone is put together and manufactured in China.

Mining Industry- Sapphire is mined in deposits mostly in Sri Lanka, China, Eastern Australia, Vietnam and India

Mining has a negative impact on the environment.
It can cause issues such as destruction of land to make space for the mining, which can cause loss of habitats to animals. Another thing that this can cause is soil erosion.

A positive social impact of the mining industry is that it creates job opportunities for people

The more people employed and in the workforce, the more money made to contribute to the economy (economic growth)

Sapphire mining is a primary industry, since it involves extracting raw materials from the earth.

iPhone manufacturing is a secondary industry, because it puts the raw materials/components together to create a product

Cobalt- a metal found and mined in DR Congo, China, Russia, Canada and Australia #

Lead- mined in Australia, USA, China and Canada #

Graphene- a one-atom thick layer of graphite. Graphite is mined mostly in China, Canada and Brazil #

Wire

Most wires are made from copper, which is a metal mined mainly in Chile, Peru, Mexico and Indonesia

Provides the voltage to the circuit #

Iphone impact on the society

There are 2 impacts for this:

Positive: Nowadays, people can communicate with other people very easily. Back then, people had to write an email in order to communicate, and it took 5-10 days or so for the receiver to receive their email. Now, all that needs to be done is turning on the phone and send a message, and it will send instantly.

There are many different negative impacts

1:Addiction

2:Texting while driving

3: Education performance

4:Cyber bullying

Transportation

Gorilla glass

Gorilla glass is produced in Kentucky, South Korea, Taiwan and Japan. If this component being transported by a short distance, trucks are mainly used but it will cost a fortune since sand is is heave and it requires lots of fuels. Mining high quality dune sand within the U.S involves materials required for the vehicles used in sand mining. Transporting by the long distance, they mainly use rails and ships.

There is not much information about transporting the components

  1. Isolation
  1. Depression and increased bullying

But instead of getting all the components from all around the world, Apple is now starting to develop their own components.
