Newton's 1st law of motion
Forces:
Help change speed and direction
Is a push or pull that an object receives
There are contact forces like air resistance
There are non contact forces like gravity
Net force and Combining forces:
Net force is the combination of forces that act on an object.
The way in which forces combine depends on the direction of the forces applied.
Combining forces in the same direction: When the forces acting on an object go to the same direction, the net force is the sum of the forces that go in the same direction. The direction of the net force is the same direction as the forces you add together.
Combining forces in opposite directions: When the forces applied in an object go to opposite direction. The net force is the sum of both opposite forces.
Balanced and Unbalanced forces:
Balanced forces are forces acting on an object that combined form a net force of zero.
Unbalanced forces are forces acting on an object that combined form a net force of more than zero.
Balanced forces do not make a change in the motion of an object.
Unbalanced forces make a change in the motion of an object changing its velocity.
Newtons 1st law of motion states...
An object at rest would not change its motion if any force acts on it. If a force acts on it, its motion will change.
Inertia:
Is the tendency of an object to resist any change on its motion.
