RENE DESCARTES
-His philosophy can be characterized as idealism
-He celebrated Discourse on Method and Meditation on First Philosophy .
-Descartes arrived at the two principles on which he based his system : the cogito and the Deity .
-The way he arrived at hid principles , brought new life philosophy .
-The Cartesian method was extended into numerous fields of inquiry including the natural sciences .
GEORGE BERKELEY
-Spent most his professional life as a minister in the Episcopal Church there .
-Writting several treatises on philosophy including Principle of Human Knowledge .
-Berkeley thought that people made a common error in assuming that such objects as trees , houses .
-Berkeley was a champion of ideal realities and values whose main purpose is to make evident the existence of God .
DAVID HUME
Proved to be the greatest antagonist to the ideas of Berkeley .
Studied law and later served in France as a member of English embassy .
-His major work , Treatise upon Human Nature .
He recognized that his theories resulted in a kind of skepticism .
IMMANUEL KANT
He eventually became perhaps the most famous professor the University of Konigsberg .
Recognized as one of the World's great philosphers .
-He produced Critique of Pure Reason and Critique of Practical Reason .
-Kant's idealism comes from his concentration on human thought processes .
-Kant had to face the problem of the thinking subject and thr object of thought .
GEORG WILHELM FRIEDRIVV HEGEL
-His important books are Phenomenology of Mind ,Logic and Philosophic of Right .
Characterictics of Hegel's philosophy is his logic .
-One major features of thr Hegelian systemis movement toward richer , more complex and more complete synthness .
JOSIAN ROYCE
Believed that ideas are esentially purposes or plans of action and that the fulfillment of ideas .
-He believed that one of the most important things for a person to develop is a sense of loyalty .
-Became the director of the Concord School Of Philosophy .
