14th Amendment
Being born in the U.S. makes you a citizen with rights that no-one can take away. The govt. can punish states by removing representatives if they violate your rights. If you rebel against the govt., you can't be part of the govt. or it branches.
Country - Colored and white people were treated the same. People's culture and lifestyle was lost.
A.A - Freed from being slaves; had new set of rights and were under a protection clause so no state can take away their rights.

Purpose and action of these codes agried the Northerners who claimed B.C. violated the idea of freedom. Slavery was over with so Southerners found ways to make A.A. lives miserable.
A.A. were furious since they were still treated poorly if not worse than when they were slaves.
13th Amendment
Being forced to work against your own will even if being paid for is not accepted unless committed a crime the U.S. can make you work as a punishment.
It affected the country as a whole because slavery ended everywhere.
