Hydraulic action:

The types of waves
Destructive waves:
Waves are often found in more exposed bays, where they create gravel beaches. Waves are more common in winter than in summer. Although a wave of destructive waves is much stronger than a building wave, the power of the pulsing wave is much weaker than its wave.
Constructive waves: Constructive wave is a wave that leads to the build-up of a beach, owing to the swash of the wave being more effective in moving material than the backwash. Usually, constructive waves are associated with low-energy conditions and a gentle offshore gradient. Constructive wave is very good for surfing, if the country that have a good constructive wave, that country will be the best place to surf.
How waves are created?
Waves are most commonly caused by wind. Wind-driven waves, or surface waves, created by the friction between wind and surface water. As wind blows across the surface of the ocean or a lake, the continual disturbance creates a wave crest.
