chemical reaction
The substance (or substances) initially involved in a chemical reaction are called reactants or reagents. Chemical reactions are usually characterized by a chemical change, and they yield one or more products, which usually have properties different from the reactants.
during a chemical reaction bonds between atoms break break and the atoms change places - the atoms from the substances you start of with (the reactants )Rearrange themselves to form diffrent chemicals .these new chemicals are called the products. you can show what happens in a chemical reaction using a equation.
chemical equations
balancing equations
there must always the same number of atoms of each element on both sides of the equation -they cant just disappear . if there arnt the number on each side then the equation isn't balanced
you balance a equation by putting numbers infront of the formulas where needed ..1.find a element that doesnt balance and pencil ina number to sort it out
- see where it gets you it may create another imbalance if o ,just pencil
3.carry on chasing unbalanced elements and it will sort itself out quickly
word equations show what happens in a chemical using the full names of the substances involved .they show the reactants (the substances that react together)and the products(The substances that are made in the reaction)
Symbol Equation show exactly the sames the work equations but using chemical symbols and formulae. however , when balanced correctly they also show the ratio of the amount o involved in the reaction
c1.3
electrolysis is what happens if you pass and electric current through an ionic substance that's molten or in a solution ,the ions in the liquid or solution will move towards the electrodes , where they can react , causing the ionic substance to decompose .This is called electrolysis. for example , the electrolysis of molten aluminium oxide breaks aluminium oxide down into aluminium and oxygen
the six properties of metals are they are shiny, heat and electric conductors, malleable, ductile , high density ,soliid
