Elli and Bubi
Elli admires Bubi: "he is brilliant like they are" (15).
Elli is jealous of Bubi: "i get good grades because i like to study,but my brother gets good grades without ever opening a book." (pg 15)
Elli is gets irritated and angry with bubi when she sees his yellow star, "I could not understand them when i saw my tall, handsome, seventeen-year-old brother wearing his "medal" with mock pride his valiant attempt to turn humiliation into triumph made me cry. It was a bitter, bitter joke. my anger was laced with raw pain." (Page 29)
Elli and Louras relationship
Ellie and Loura dissprove of each other.
Elli,"I believe she does not call me beautiful because she doesn't think I am pretty." (page 14)
Loura "I don't believe in cuddling" and Elli "I believe she does not hug me because does not think I am huggable." (page 14)
