Radon
Chemical Properties of Noble Gases
Helium, Neon and Argon never form compounds
Radon is radioactive
Have a full electron shell
Krypton and Xenon had found compounds with high reactive elements
Are monatomic, don't form bonds with each other
Discovery
1894: Lord Rayleigh
Take out oxygen from a sample of air
Get tha mass of what he assumed was only nitrogen
He obtained pure nitrogen and it was lighter than the other sample
William Ramsay
Made the same experiment but also removed the nitrogen
He realized there was still mass in it
Though it was an element and called it argon
There were all the noble sases in it
They hardly react with anything, so they are difficult to identify
Also Known as inert gases because to this
1960: Some compounds of xenon and krypton, so are no longer inert
The Noble Gases except from Helium were not discovered until 1894
