"He moistened his lips with tip of his tongue and clutched his spear tightly." (pg 36) This shows that Tao uses his spear to hunt animals.
clothes
"Then there will be much meat and skins to cover our women and children in the winter" (80) . This shows that early humans wore clothes made from animal skins.
Art
He held up the sketch for a moment, studying it. Then he began to draw. He copied the sketch line for line, drawing the image of a longhorn.(pg 139) I chose this for art because it shows one off the things they draw in the caves.
Dogs
The wolf dog dashed out, running straight for the deer. With great bounding leaps, he raced between the spruce trees and passed through the ring of hunters, closing on his prey. (pg 117) This explains dogs by
food
"They speared chunks of salmon on long sticks and broiled them over the hot flames. They did the same with parts of duck that Tao had caught had caught the day before. After their meal they ate dried ground plums and drank cockleshells full of birch tea." (pg 87) This represents food because they explain what they ate and also what he drank after.
shelter
About half way up he found a third one. It looked over the valley. He saw no pug marks and he was sure it was deserted. It was about ten spear lengths long and opened into a small cavern. The walls were smooth with a few breaks or cracks. ( pg 55-56) . This represents shelter because the narrator explains what Tao is looking for in a cave.
religon
"Then he stepped into the clearing, ready to come face to face with the evil spirit." (pg 36) This shows that he believe in evil spirits.
Traditions or ceremonies
"He held up graybeard's amulets, his graven stones and bison horn and gave them to Tao. This day we now accept Tao as our new cave painter he said." (pg 157) This shows what happens when a cave painter dies.
