Childhood
Mother- Emma and father-henry parents were salves. So life was hard for his generation to move on and find other work.
Jesse was born in Oakville, Alabama.
Jesse was the youngest of 12 sibling. 3 who did not survive, 3 girls, and 6 boys.

insects invaded the crops in the South so the Owen family moved to Cleveland Ohio to work in factories.
Jesse would always race his brother, sisters, and friends to the fields and home and never got beat.
Olympics
Before
During the Olympic tryouts Jesse won the 200 meter dash, 100 meter dash, and long jump.
Most people did not want the United States team to go to the Olympics because it was held in Germany. Hitler had just become Germany's leader and he hated Jews, handicap people, homosexuals, and black people. They thought by going to the games the United States would be supporting his actions and thoughts.
The AAU leaders were in charge if the United States would go to the Olympics. They voted 58.25 to 55.75 to take the team to Germany.
The team had to travel through ship (S.S. Manhattan to Germany. It would take over a week to get to Germany so people had to jump over other people, and run around the ship and in the halls to practice.

AFTER
During the parade of Olympians around the U.S. black people started throwing things and getting really mad at Jesse because he was sitting next to professional Boxer Jack Dempsey. Who said he would never fight a black man.
Jesse had gotte many job offers for after the Olympics before he left to Germany, but when he came back they were all gone.
Jesse was offered 2,000 dollars to go to Cuba and race a horse if he won. Jesse own the race and used the money to help support his family.
After he got back from Cuba Jesse stared working for Bojangles. Jesse took dance lessons and then when on tour with him. After tour there was nothing else to do for Bojangles.

Jesse was offered a job with the Illinois State Athletic Commission. The Associated Press named him the greatest track athlete of the first half of the twentieth century.

The president of the United Sates asked Jesse to travel through Asia on behalf of the United States.
After Jesse got back the Civil Rights Movement started and black people started rallies and marched down the streets and gave speeches. Jesse did not support the Movement and wrote a book called Blackthink.
After the book Black think money people were angry that a hero for black people would wright a book saying the things he did in it. Jesse started receiving hate mail and released he was only think of him self and not others when writhing the book. Jesse then wrote another book called I have changed and apologizing for Blackthink.
After the he wrote the books Jesse started advertising on products and ended up running a advertisement bossiness.
Jesse daughters graduated from college and one becoming the first black women to be homecoming queen.

Ohio State award Jesse with a honorary college degree. later Jesse was awarded The Presidential Medal of Freedom.

During
Jess won the 100-meter dash, long jump, 200-meter dash, and 4 by 100-meter relay. Jesse had broken records in all the races he ran, making history in every single one Jesse earned himself the fastest person in the world.
Everyone got mad at the United States coach because he changed the 4 by 100-meter relay team to put Jesse in it. Coach took out the only two Jews in the Olympics.

Jesse work at Tony's shoe repair, greenhouse, and a grocery boy every day after school.

Jesse worked with the Fairmount Junior High track coach before school every day since he had to work after school.
Jesse never lost a race in track meets. Jesse ran the 100 yard and 220 yard. His tack meet made him caption.

COLLEGE

Many of Jesse black fans were made at him because they though he would attend a all-black university.
Jesse and the other African Americans had to eat on the bus when they went away for a track meet. While the white people ate at restaurants.

Jesse won the 100 yard dash, the 220 yard dash, and long jump in the big ten.
Jesse winning made him caption of the Ohio State team. Jesse was the first Black person to earn his spot as caption.
Jesse made history in the 100-yard dash, long jump, and 220-yard dash. Breaking world records in the long jump and 220-yard dash and tieing the world record in the 100-yard dash. Jesse did this all in one track meet, the championships. Jesse scored 40 of 40.5 points for his track team.
