They are committed to controlling pain and other symptoms, easing suffering and sustaining the last phase of life in patients who have active, progressive and far advanced disease which is no longer amenable to curative treatment.
Hospices will usually offer symptom control and terminal, palliative and respite care. They focuses on pain control and dealing with bereavement and isolation, also provides spiritual and emotional support. This care is given to elderly persons with life altering conditions or reaching the last stages of life.
