Pre - Conventional Level
Stage 1: Obedience and Punishment Orientation Stage
a person getting punished must have done something wrong
toddler not going into the litter box because the parents yells at him/her
do what brings them the less punishment
Stage 2: Instrumental Orientation Stage
different people have different views
one sibling is rule following to others while other is a a trouble maker
no one right view
Post - Conventional Level
Stage 5: Social - Contract Orientation
Laws are contracts, not strict rules
classical liberalism
everyone has different and unique views
Stage 6: Universal - Ethical - Principal Orientation
People do what's morally right
Founding Father's view on human rights
Emphasis on universal human rights
Conventional Stage
Stage 3: Good Boy, Nice Girl Orientation
importance on good behavior
classmates helping each other when in need
desires approval from others
Stage 4: Law - and - Order Orientation
obeying rule is deemed important
me being a rigid rule follower
accepts law and convention blindly
