It is good to have an end to journey towards, but it is the journey that matters, in the end. Ursula Le Guin

“You cannot get through a single day
without having an impact on the
world around you. What you do
makes a difference and you have to
decide what kind of difference you
want to make.” Jane Goodall
... People with great passions, people who accomplish great deeds, people who possess strong feelings, even people with great minds and a strong personality, rarely come out of good little boys and girls.
Lev S. Vygotsky

Need more time to read, think about and reflect on the PiP in order to make sure I can deliver information clearly.
Clarify and understand the language of the PYP and inquiry that is being updated and what is being made obsolete
So much more opportunity for learner agency, and the development of rich and personally relevant identity claims.
The clarity of documentation and thus far the ease in finding information.
Being able to work with so many interesting WSL's in this upskilling workshop.
The valuing of difference that seems to be underpinned by principles and practices that support agency.
STANCE: I will continue to position myself, or take the stance of a curious adventurer as the journey to new and exciting learning unfolds.
be open to hearing and valuing criticism, concerns and worries and see tham as launchpads; remember to help teachers stay connected to their important personal values and beliefs as they reflect on their role and possibilities of adapting practices in the enhanced PYP classroom
STEPS: Try and attend some of the face to face delivery of new workshops as a participant, to remember what it is like to be in the learners seat.
Worried about not knowing making mistakes or being unsure of facts when supporting teachers step towards the possibilities of the enhanced PYP.
Worried about what appears to be limited agency for WSL leaders with fully developed plans, but am committed to staying curious and open to possibility.
Thinking carefully about how to support and step teachers towards practices that support more student agency, when this feels very wobbly and perilous in certain spaces. Remembering that no space, school or idea is without hidden politics and power that push people's lives around, so thinking about how to support teachers so they feel safe and strong in delivering the best for their students.
