Battle of Saratoga
Seen as the turning point of the war because the victory of the patriots showed foreign powers, such as France, that America could win the war and send aid.
Also, this battle helped boost americans morale and about 6,000 British and Hessian troops surrendered.
Boston Massacre
After the poor and sick people were kicked out of the halfway house and more people became agitated,colonists protested by throwing rocks and clubs. This caused British redcoats to open fire on the crowd killing five men.
Crispus Attucks was a free african who was shot during the massacre. He is known as the first casualty of the revolution.
Intolerable Acts
This was caused by the Boston tea party where colonists threw British tea into the harbor. British became angry and passed these laws taxing regular items and closing Boston ports.
The quartering act said that colonists had ro house soldiers and soldiers could house in private buildings. The administration of justice act said that any soldiers that were convicted of a capital crime had to be tried in london. Boston Port Bill closed the port and fined boston until they paid for the tea.
Boston Tea party
Colonists from Boston dressed up as Native americans went to a british ship at night and dumped all the tea from the boat into the water.
The British closed down the Boston Ports and passed the intolerable acts which angered the colonists even more.
