The Russel-Einstein manifesto
Communism and anti-communism
Everyone who is politically conscious has an opinion. If everyone were to stay quiet, they could find a new way of thinking.
If one wins, it will lead to a military contest however a military victory might be worse. A new way of thinking can help prevent a military contest.
Nuclear War
Bombs have become more powerful over the years and people don't realize the danger that could be brought upon them through a war.
Bombs could destroy large cities and it could be centuries until these cities fully recover which could effect the world trade etc
A war with H-bombs could end the human race
Many experts have said that world war 3 could be the war to end all of man kind
Non-existent hope
People don't realize that their actions can effect things on a much larger scale
They think that a war could be possible as long as these modern weapons are prohibited
This reminds me of when after ww2, the people responsible for the holocaust were charged with murder etc however they pleaded innocent as 'what happens in war doesn't count'. (i disagree) but on these grounds, if laws don't count technically this rule would do nothing
This could help as it would lesson the fear of a sudden attack and would diminish tension between areas
Moral of the manifesto
Why choose death of huge numbers over not compromising on quarrels?
...by choosing war we risk universal death
Find peaceful minds for the settlement of all matters of dispute between them
When you reach an extreme you end up being intolerant with other ideas.

Social class involvement
The higher class would be in-charge of the war and also would have the money to protect themselves.
The lower class would suffer as prices would rise and people would have less jobs and also have to pay for reconstruction. I think there would be a large homeless population as well was large death rates
This manifesto is appealing to the middle / lower class to show them that ww3 would not be good for their situation and also its appealing to the higher class to not have a nuclear war and to work out quarrels between nations peacfully
This could create a large difference between the higher class and lower class. The middle class would possibly become lower class too. It is also very possible that the great depression could reoccur.
Past experiences that we should remember and learn from
The past wars (WW1 and WW2) both show the costs of war
WW2 was the largest recorded conflict ever, in the soviet union there were over 25,000,000 deaths. In other countries there were many as-well but due to the holocaust the total number of deaths rose
War can also cause discrimination, racism and injustice to flourish
After both of these wars, the economy of the places involved got bad and as an example caused the great depression
The manifesto is pushing towards a new method of thinking that can prevent a nuclear war. In order to solve some quarrels, the people in charge often resort to violence however that isn't the correct approach as it can do more harm then good. Sometimes stepping back and taking a look at the possible outcomes of our actions could help us not relive a few past experiences.
The people who wrote this manifesto have strong feelings about the issue
Possibly with a nuclear war, large scale destruction could happen, these people have families and obviously care for the future of man kind.
Einstein and Russel both made large contributions to the evolvement of society and were very influential to the future we live in today.
