Struggle with Some, but Not All Exercises
Review the exercises they did not do well in and allow time for them to practice these exercises in class as well as at home.
-
Watch the skill and techniques be completed either on video, a fellow classmate or the teacher.
Read how the exercise needs to be completed, read back to me how a exercise would need to be completed as well as demonstrate it.
Use Think-Pair-Share to write down what exercises they are familiar with, discuss what exercises they are comfortable doing and share it with everyone.
Exercises Were Too Easy
-
Change the skill to be slightly harder or tailor the degree of difficulty to the individual’s skills.
Group these individuals with those of lesser skills so they can help encourage, teach and show them how to complete the exercises.
The use of Performance Assessments will allow this group of students to be more creative with their exercises. For example, skits, dances or songs.
Language/Reading Barrier
-
Provide progress reports to parents, which will keep them “in the know” of how their child is progressing.
