definition
is the inversion of one portion of the intestine within another, it most common cause of bowel obstruction in those 3 months to 6 years of age
pathophysiology
intussusception result in the bowel obstruction followed by congestion and oedema with venous and lymphatic obstruction and this progresses to arterial obstruction and subsequent necrosis of the bowel. ischemia and then necrosis lead in fluid sequestration and bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract and if it not treated the bowel may perforate lead to sepsis
