Should Sports Be Mandatory?
Teachers For
When we do group projects in class the student athletes are the ones that excel in them, they are so used to working with teammates that classmates become easy to work with too
Teachers Against
Student athletes like to fool around with their friends in class, disrupting class work and other important activities
If one of my student athletes if playing sports, and working a job they never fully have time to study for their tests, or complete their homework that is mandatory, they all give the same excuse.
When I hear a student plays a sport I often think of them as a leader because they have those skills. It helps students become good people who contribute to the community in many ways, whether that is in leadership roles or helping others.
Students For
I love playing sports it's a fun get away from all the school work. It has also helped me manage my time better, between my job and school work
When I started playing sports I didn't know what leadership was, until i learned how to use it to win games, I've also gotten better with working with other players to get a common job done which has helped me get a job
Playing sports is great, if you start when you are younger you will get a positive mentor to teach you how to be a better player, and or better person.
Student Against
If I had to play a sport I would have to give up additional commitments I have made with my friends, family, boss, and girlfriend. I can't just add a sport to the mix or it will throw my commitments off the board
If I play a sport there's a risk of me getting injured and if I get injured it would interfere with everything, it would slow me down, waste more time than needed, add more appointments that I would need to attend to
As a student I don't have enough time during the week to play a compulsory sport, I have homework, a job, and other activities I need to attend to
Parents For
Teenagers get into extra trouble with more time on their hands, so when they're out playing on a sports team they're less likely to go out to the street corner and smoke weed
Parents Against
With work, shopping, and other activities I don't have enough time to drive my kids to every practice and game
If my child got injured that would scare me half to death, I wouldn't want them to play that sport because it's too dangerous. I also don't have funds for common injuries
Us parents don't have unlimited funds, so if Jimmy wanted to play football and it costed $500 per season we would be going bankrupt
If I enrolled my child into sports when they were younger it would help them get into better shape and learn to eat healthier
When I put my kids in sports I believe they will get certain skills, like leadership, team building, and time management.
Coaches for
If new people started to play I could find potential in one student and get them to become better and help them to become their best
Coaches against
I want my teams to be the best, because i want my team to win, if people were forced into playing these sports our teams will get worse and it will be harder for us to win
I've seen so many athletes come in being a hothead, but I could turn them into great people it took time but it worked I built character and made them better players and people.
