Theories for Evolution
-
Lamarckism
Main Idea
If changes need to be made to an organism, they will be made in the next generation of the offspring.
-
How was it developed
It was developed through various observations made from giraffes and their development through life.
-
Natural Selection
Main Idea
The Theory of Evolution is an explanation of a species adaptation to its environment overtime to assist its survival.
Evidence
Overtime different species have adapted to their specific environment. This was done by the animal mutating to better suit their surrounding. For example, It is believed that giraffe needed longer necks to reach high leaves in trees. As a result of this over the generation giraffe tendered to begin growing longer necks than previous generations with meant that giraffes could survive easier in their habitat
Who is involved?
In 1859, Charles Darwin set out his theory of evolution by natural selection as an explanation for adaptation and speciation.
How Was It Developed
Charles Darwin visited the Galapagos Islands in 1835. This is where Darwin formulate his ideas on natural selection. he observed that different birds had different beak for catching and eating certain foods.
