In order to grow and develop in the field you must also take care of your self. Self care is the key to surviving in the field.

"Your Brain on Art" suggests that neuroaesthetics offers a new and innovative approach to things when it comes to understanding the way we live. We still have so much to learn about how the brain and arts intersect.
I would like to read more on neuroaesthetics, it is interesting
This week I have been thinking about how important it is to advocate for our work. A lot of people are very under educated when it comes to the field of Art Therapy. It is our job to educate others around us so we can allow the field to grow and spread wider. I would like to learn more about how to effectively advocate for our field.
Moons 10 Fundamental Principles of Art Therapy, gives me knew ways of how I can explain art therapy to people in a few words
Sometimes it is very hard to separate work from real life. I am sometimes worried that if I work in this field it will take a toll on me because it is hard work to deal with. I would like to learn more about how I can successfully balance work and life. We got to talking about this in my counseling class a few days ago and I felt this fit perfectly in the Hidden Cost branch.

I have been thinking recently what I will be doing after I graduate and attend grad school. I don't know where I will end up, but I keep thinking about where in the field I will be working and who with. I always saw myself working with drug rehab patients but I think I would like to work with kids as well. I keep thinking about what it would be like working in children's hospital.

Aesthetic: "doesn’t just mean that something is beautiful, it refers to the physical world that surrounds us"
-
Metaverbal: Meta meaning beyond, "we define our work as being beyond words" if we describe art therapy as a form of treatment that is metaverbal (Moon 150).

In this weeks reading in Moon, he brought to our attention the many questions about verbalization people have when they are new to the field. I found myself asking the same questions like what do I do when I am not sure what to say to a client? You never know what to except in a session and that is kind of scary to think about. You always have to be actively paying attention so you know how to answer back to the patient.

I love helping others so my main goal is to help as many people as I can. I love the feeling I get when I help people or impact a person positively. Helping others helps me I believe. It helps me grow as a person, so for me I hope my contributions in the art therapy go towards helping others and making others happier.
“First, they use spontaneous art processes and imagery to help clients, free associate, to uncover unconscious internalized conflicts that are the source of problems”(Moon, 2016, pg.33)
