Not everyone everywhere is going to agree with a punishment for a specific crime, so what is set in place to protect the transgressor from unlawful cruel punishment is their rights. Every person in the USA has undeniable rights. This helps to keep the justice system in check.
A factor that normally affects this system and makes it corrupt is disparity. Disparity is when a difference in groups is explained by legitimate factors or even discrimination.
There are many different types of crimes, we have devised categories for these different types of crimes
Occupational crime is white collar crime, skimming, insider trading, tax evasion fraud, counterfeit products, money laundering
Visible crime is violent crime, property crime, and public order Violent crime is homicide assault battery rape and robbery
Property crime is theft larceny shoplifting embezzlement and burglary
Public order is public intoxication panhandling vandalism and disorderly conduct
Organized crime is crime that profits through illegal activities, and maintains itself through use of threats or force.

Victimless crime is the willing and private exchange of goods or services that are strong in demand but illegal

Who is the victim?
Anyone can be a victim, but you are more likely to be a victim to someone of the same race as you, someone you have some sort of relationship with. Socioeconomic status also plays a role in this.
There are two types of law, they are
Civil law and Criminal law.

Justice is a concept, It is supposed to be fair, and the only way to do that is to adapt it with the changing variables of the world today.
It is subjective, it changes with every case and the interpreter of that case
It incorporates crime control, everyone wants to be safe.
