Diversity in writing group
What does this mean?
How do we want to think about it?
Inviting new members
Explain our process
Established group members discuss
Decide by consensus
Typically, what we do is have interested people come to a meeting or two to see how we operate.
Then we have them submit a piece for critique. This is so you can get feedback from us and see if what we say meshes with what your goals are for your work. Some people find that our critiquing doesn't work for them.
Then we (the original group) meets one week solo so we can discuss fit (so, July 19 meeting). How do we feel about the potential person? Will they contribute and fit in? This is also a chance for you to assess and evaluate, too. We're not a good fit for everyone!
If we all feel it's a good match, then we issue an invitation to join.
If you have any questions or concerns, let me know.
