Psalm 21-24
Psalm 22 by David:
Why have You forsaken me?
up to v21
David felt
his belief about the future
self
future
I will perform my vows before those who fear Him
I will praise YOU in the midst of congregation
I will tell of Your name to my brothers
others related to God
always?
my praise comes from You in the great congregation
You who who fear the Lord, praise him
all you offspring of Jacob glorify Him and all you offspring of Israel stand in awe of Him
future
the afflicted shall eat and be satisfied
all the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord
all the families of the nations shall worship before YOU
may your heart live forever
those who seek Him shall praise the Lord
For kingship belongs to the Lord and He rules over the nations
all the prosperous eat and worship
the posterity shall serve Him and it shall be told of the Lord to the coming generation
they shall come and proclaim His righteousness to a people yet unborn, that He has done it (Church?)
all who go down to the dust, even the one who could not keep himself alive shall bow down before Him
scenarios
external
scorned by man kind and despised by the people
they divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing
they wag their heads and make mouths at me
say "He trusts in the Lord; let Him deliver him; let Him rescue him; for He delights in him
all who see me mock me
many and strong bulls of Bashan encompass and surround me
a company of evildoers encircles me
for dogs encompass me
they stare at me and gloat over me
they open wide their mouths at me, like a ravening and roaring lion
self and internal
But, his conditions (like what Jesus faced)
my heart is like wax
it is melted within my breast
my strength is dried up like a potsherd
my tongue is stick to my jaws
they have pierced my feet and hands
all my bones are out of joints
I can count all my bones
I am poured out like water
I am a worm and not a man
make request to God
But, YOU oh God do not be far off
O YOU come quickly to my aid
Save me from the mouth of the lion
Deliver my soul from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dog
Questioning / calling God
be not far from me for trouble is near but there is none to help
My God, My God, why have You forsaken me? (Christ)
why are YOU so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning?
David belief about God's response to his seeking at that time
recalled the nature of God and the history about God & His people
our fathers trusted in YOU and they trusted and YOU delivered them
they cried to YOU and were rescued in YOU and were not put to shame
Yet YOU are who took me from the womb
I was cast from birth on YOU
YOU made me trust YOU at my mother's breast
YOU have been my God from my mother's womb
HE has not despised or abhorred the affliction of the afflicted
HE has not hidden his face from him but has heard when he cried to Him
yet YOU are holy & enthroned on the praises of Israel
YOU have rescued me from the horns of wild oxen
Oh my God, I cry by day but You do not answer, and by night but I find no rest
YOU lay me in the dust of death
Psalm 24 by David: the King of Glory
What the Lord did (doing)
HE founded the earth upon the seas and established the earth and the world on which people dwell
give to he who is closer to the Lord

who may get closer to the Lord
who shall ascend to the hill of the Lord?
who shall stand in His holy place?
HE who has clean hands (deeds) and a pure heart (attitude)
does not lift up his soul to what is false

the generation of those who seek Him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob
ask people to ...
