Goals of CJS: justice, crime control, crime prevention
Police: peacekeeping, apprehension of law violators, crime prevention, social services
Corrections: community corrections, institutional corrections
Courts: prosecution of accused, defense of the accused, preservation of rights, adjudication
Victimless crime: willing and private exchange of goods or services that are strong in demand but illegal, such as prostitution, gambling, drug sales, drug uses
Visible Crime: violent crime such as homicide, rape, assault, robbery, battery
Property Crime: theft, larceny, shoplifting, burglary, embezzlement
Public-order crime: public intoxication, vandalism, panhandling
Occupational crime: white collar crime, skimming, insider trading, tax evasion, fraud, counterfeit products, money laundering
Organized crime: profit through illegal activities, maintains through use of threats or force, corruption of public officials
Transnational Crime: crimes which cross national borders, such as drug trafficking, smuggling, human trafficking
