In all the countries affected by the Great Depression, unemployment, homelessness, starvation, crime and civil unrest grew. People started fearing this turmoil would start another world war. Businesses closed, investors lost confidence, there were falls in prices and events in politics were boiling. The main reason for this was because of the Wall Street Crash, but other factors were the gap between the rich and poor, the trade policies in the US which put off international trade, and the oversupply of manufactured goods that could not be sold.
