Reflection: Module 5
The Greeks were ahead of their times. They were civilized; running as a democracy. They inspired much of our architecture, language, philosophy, and sports.
The city-states remind me of our states. It also reminds me of the triple alliance that occurred during World War I.
The Ancient Greeks obsession with being first place led them to constantly be training. Their people were always ready to fight.

It is shocking that Spartan boys were sent to training at a young age. It must have been hard knowing the intense training you'd have to do.

If my community ever told me that my child had to die because it was weak, I would runaway and leave the community.

Do you think that eventually Spartans would have stopped forcing kids to undergo intense training? Like, we used to allow child labor, but eventually we stopped?

Do you think much of this backwards logic is due to their belief in Gods? Because their religions rule their lives?

I still don't understand as to why pedophilia was acceptable in ancient Greece. It did not seem beneficial in any way.
Their games remind me of our Olympics and Super Bowl. It unites all of us for a bit. It also makes us more patriotic.

Greece seemed to be very religion focused. I can't imagine allowing my religion to make all my decisions. I'd feel as if I lack control.
