Emotionally
Talk with parents, and if they can't provide any insight about the student's emotional state, next talk to councilors and see what can be done to further assist the student.

No
Then have a one on one with the student and try to see if there is something that they don't want to necessarily disclose with the counselor or parent, and try to found resources outside of the school they can go to. #
Behavioral
Take note of their behavior and see why they are acting out. Do they not understand what is being taught and instead of asking for additional help they act out in hopes of getting the educator's attention that way. If that's the the case what do you do?
Have a one on one with the student. Talk to them about their behavior try to get a better understanding of who the student is as an individual.
-
Talk to the parents. Talk to them about addressing their behavior and see if there could be an underlying factor like not understanding the work, finding a certain part of the course more difficult to understand than other, or maybe it's the quantity of the work, and they may generally be stressed out. #

Talk with the parent and see if they can provide a better understanding of why their child is struggling.
Take note of any signs that will stand out about this student. Do they have a hard time reading on their level, do they seem to have a problem focusing, do they seem to only finish less than half of the assignment at any given time.
